Like any other thing, playing the guitar needs to be done step-by-step. You cannot go directly in playing your guitar without learning and mastering first the basics. Most people find learning the basics boring because there is much to be remembered.
But it is proven that it is much easier to learn to play the guitar if you have a correct technique and efficiency. You can avoid getting difficulty in the process because you will learn all the necessary techniques you must have in order to play the guitar better.
Before playing the guitar, you need to determine what hand you are using most. If you are a right handed person, you should hold your guitar; place the body on your right leg and the neck in your left hand.
Hold your pick with your right hand in between your thumb and index finger. Pick is use to make you strum the strings without any difficulty.
You should hold the neck of your guitar so that the headstock is at the cheat level and you will not find a hard time playing the guitar. You can have a better control of your guitar if you hold it close against your body.
After mastering the proper holding of your guitar, you should prepare yourself to learn guitar strings. Most people find it hard because proper hand position of the guitar strings is not as easy as it seems. (I find learning guitar string the most difficult part so I decided to quit.)
Make sure that your guitar has six strings. The one closest to you is the thickest of all the strings and called number 6. It is also called the low or bottom string because it has the lowest pitch.
The first string is the top string and as well as the skinniest string. If you want to make sure that your guitar has the right tune, the top string should possess the highest pitch. Learning to tune up your guitar needs another investment of your time.
Your quest to learn guitar strings start in plucking the first string. This method is called as playing the string “open”. Now you are ready to play the guitar strings open.
It will take you long to learn playing the guitar strings but if you are really determined to learn then you will be patient enough to undergo the hardship.
Your fingers are designated with numbers 1 to 4 being your index finger as the number 1. If you know already how to play the first string open, you can now push down on the string on the first fret.
(Frets are the small metal rails that go across the neck). The string will produce sound if you pluck it.
What may be difficult in plucking the string is to make it sure that you push the string as close to the fret without being on top of it. Pushing the guitar string too close or too far can make you hear unpleasant sound.
If you have mastered using your fingers plucking the string, you will be surprise that pushing it on the fret is now easy for you. You should always remember that you will use your first finger on the notes on the first fret and so on and so forth.
